We walk every ILS organization through a comprehensive onboarding process that includes all the necessary details and personalized guidance, but at the most basic level, here’s what ILS is designed to do:

First, we set up all of the things you'd rather not spend hours figuring out: payroll, accounts, benefits, taxes, bank transfer systems, and some other stuff.

How much does ILS cost?

Most fiscal sponsors charge 10-20% of an organization’s income each year. Not us! ILS usually costs between $8k - $10k/year flat, depending on a few factors, and it actually gets cheaper after the first year. But don’t let cost stand in the way. The whole reason we created the ILS program was to solve issues of equity and access for community-focused organizations, so we never want price to be a barrier.

Can I start if I don’t have funding yet?

You bet! We totally get that no matter what the fees are, it’s tough to say yes if you don’t know where the dollars are coming from. We have inroads to help you get started even before you have funding in place. And once you do, we’ll help make sure your new funders can cover ILS directly as an operational cost.

How long does it take to get fiscally sponsored?

Roughly 4-6 weeks, after we know we’re a good fit. It depends on where your organization is at but the process typically involves getting your organization incorporated as a nonprofit organization and setting up your insurance, accounting, and HR systems.

What if I already have a fiscal sponsor?

It depends on the current agreement that you have but, if you choose to, we’d work alongside you to get your Fiscal Sponsorship arrangements transferred over. This would include transferring your accounting systems and setting up benefits if necessary.

So, are you just consultants?

Nope. What we do in ILS can feel a little like consulting because stuff seems to just get done, but that's actually our systems doing what they’re designed to do! Unlike a typical consultant, our goal is set things up so we can reduce our role (and our fees) over time.

Will ILS be all in my business?

Nope. Our goal is to maximize impact, not busywork. We use transparent systems that allow us to provide fiscal oversight and support without a bunch of extra steps and reporting. Plus, all the tools and third-party relationships we set up for you are yours to keep whether you stay with ILS long-term or not.
