How does it work?
We walk every Build organization through a comprehensive setup & onboarding process that includes all the necessary details and personalized guidance you’ll need to get things up and running smoothly.

Initial Setup
First, we’ll set up or review the basics you need to get going: govt. registrations, legal policies. accounting & payroll systems, insurance, that sort of thing.

Onboarding
We’ll get you up to speed and comfortable with the systems and tools we use to keep things simple and automated moving forward.

How much does it cost?
Typically, our Build Program costs $8-10k/year. We'll work with you to build a pricing structure that’s a good fit base don’t what you need. Our fixed fee fiscal sponsorship structure means the cost doesn’t go up no matter how many dollars you raise!
Can I start if I don’t have funding yet?
You bet! We totally get that no matter what the fees are, it’s tough to say yes if you don’t know where the dollars are coming from. We have a process to help you get started even before you have funding in place. And once you do, we can help you arrange for your new funders to cover the program fee directly as an operational cost.
How long does it take to get fiscally sponsored?
Roughly 4-6 weeks, after we know we’re a good fit. It depends on where your organization is at but the process typically involves getting your organization incorporated as a nonprofit organization and setting up your insurance, accounting, and HR systems.
What if I already have a fiscal sponsor?
It depends on the current agreement that you have but, if you choose to, we’d work alongside you to get your fiscal sponsorship arrangements transferred over. This would include transferring your accounting systems and setting up benefits if necessary.
So, is HNC just a shared services consultant?
Nope. Our long-term goal is actually to create a model for how nonprofit operations can be simplified sector-wide. Unlike a typical consultant, our goal is to build such good systems that we can reduce our role (and our fees) over time.
Will HNC be all in my business?
Nope. Our goal is to maximize impact, not busywork. We use transparent systems that allow us to provide fiscal oversight and support without a bunch of extra steps and reporting. Plus, all the tools and third-party relationships we set up for you are yours to keep whether you stay with us long-term or not.
